Freemail.

Our Goals

Freemail exists for one simple reason: email should belong to the person who uses it, not to an advertising company. Everything below is what we are building towards, in plain language. Where a goal is live today we say so; where it is still ahead of us, we say that too.

Live today

1. Email that’s yours

Your address, your mail, your data. No lock-in tricks: you can use your own apps over IMAP & SMTP, bring your own domain, and take your mail with you. We run Freemail on infrastructure we operate ourselves, so your inbox is not sitting in an ad company’s data centre.

Live today

2. Private by default, not by settings page

No ads. No trackers. No third-party analytics. No human reading your mail, and no using your messages to build a profile of you. Your mail content and attachments are encrypted on our servers, our backups are encrypted too, and our business will never be selling data, there is nothing here to sell it to. Our full promise is written down in our Privacy Policy and our Terms.

Live today

3. Mail you can trust

Spam, phishing and fake senders make email worse for everyone. Freemail authenticates mail properly (SPF, DKIM and DMARC, published and checked), scores spam automatically, and checks links for danger before you click them, and we hold our own outgoing mail to the same standard, with strict send limits so Freemail addresses stay trusted everywhere else.

Live today

4. A complete suite that stays simple

Mail, contacts, calendar, tasks and notes: one account, one sign-in, nothing you don’t need. Fast on the web, working in the mail app you already use, and set up in under a minute.

Live today

5. Your own domain, made easy

Anyone, a person, a family, a small business, should be able to run mail on a domain they own without becoming a mail administrator. Link your domain, we generate the records, and mailboxes, aliases and groups just work.

Working towards

6. Your choice of where your data lives

Today, Freemail mail is stored on our production servers in Europe. Our goal is to let you choose your data’s home region when you sign up, and to be honest until then: a region choice is only real when your data actually lives there, so we will not print the claim before the servers exist.

Working towards

7. Freemail in your pocket

The web product comes first. Next, a proper mobile app with the same promise: your mail, private and encrypted, with the same account and the same recovery key.

Working towards

8. Sustainable without selling you

Freemail is free to start. Our goal is to keep it that way for ordinary use and to pay for the service the honest way, with paid extras for people and businesses who need more, never with advertising, tracking or your data.

What we will never do

  • Never sell, rent or share your data with marketers or data brokers.
  • Never read your mail to advertise, profile or train anything.
  • Never add trackers: no ad networks, no third-party analytics, in the app or on this website.
  • Never fake a feature: if something is a goal rather than a fact, this page will say so.

Built with love for privacy lovers: your mail stays private, encrypted, and yours. Questions about any of this: abuse@freemail.ng.
